Here is the third in a series of Artists Talks about 4 new public art projects in the City of Phoenix.

On Thursday, April 29, 2021 we talked with local Artist Dan Mayer about his newly completed public art bridge, Natural Rhythm, located at Happy Valley Rd and the I-17. The two aesthetic freeway fences on Arizona’s first Diverging Diamond Interchange can be enjoyed by travelers north and southbound, east and westbound.

Daniel Mayer is an award-winning public artist, studio book artist, and directs The Pyracantha Press in the School of Art, Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Mayer's creative research spans 35 years (since 1986), with works in 105 National and International Collections. Mayer exhibits nationally and internationally and has work in numerous private and public special collections such as The Jack Ginsberg Artists Book Collection – Johannesburg, Getty, Wellesley, Yale, National Library-Hague, Netherlands, NY Public Library, Klingspor Stadt Museum in Offenbach, ArtPool Artists Books Archives in Budapest, the Ruth and Marvin Sachner Archives of Visual and Concrete Poetry, among others. Recent residencies include thematic art and science invitationals at PLAYA-Summerlake, OR, 2014-19. Mayer is on the PLAYA Advisory Board.
