Frankfurt am Main (Part 2) - Exploring Goethe's City!

In this second part of my first day in Frankfurt I take a stroll back to the city centre from Sachsenhausen over the Iron Bridge and look at the many padlocks that sentimental lovers have left all over the place.

I then check out the Kleinmarkthalle (Small market hall) and had lunch at an Italian delicatessen.

Walking through the busy city centre with all of it's shops and elegant boulevards was a joy.

I also had a chance to see the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe memorial statue in the Goethe Square. He is perhaps the most famous and influential person to come from this city.

Finally on my way back to my hotel I walked past the magnificent Alte Oper (Old Opera House) that had been beautifully rebuilt since the war.
