Ironbridge is located in Shropshire, England, and it is named after the iconic Iron Bridge that spans the River Severn. The Iron Bridge itself was constructed in 1779 by Abraham Darby III, and it is considered a pioneering masterpiece of industrial engineering, the world's oldest iron-cast bridge.

Abraham Darby III used a method known as "foundry casting" to create the individual components of the bridge. These components were then assembled to form the bridge structure. The bridge is about 100 feet in length and has a single span.

The Ironbridge Gorge is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors interested in history, industrial heritage, and picturesque landscapes. In addition to the Iron Bridge, there are other notable landmarks in the area, and the village itself is charming with its historic architecture and character.

In recognition of its historical importance, the Iron Bridge and the surrounding area, including Ironbridge village, were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986. The site is considered a symbol of the Industrial Revolution.
