Jackfield Trail In Shropshire with natural beauty and history and beautiful walk to take the whole family, dog walkers, and everybody. Follow me on this latest travel vlog adventure, exploring the local area of Shropshire.

Jackfield in Shropshire, a place full of scenic views and history including the first railway in Shropshire and second in Great Britain and like many of the settlements in the area, its notable for its place in the industrial revolution.

Less than a mile upstream is the world-famous Iron Bridge, in Jackfield itself there is the Jackfield Tile Museum housed within the former Craven Dunnit Factory.

The Maws Craft Centre formerly a part of the tile works which is located on Salthouse Road. between the title museum and the memorial bridge and houses, a large number of small businesses as well as the offices for the Gorge Parish Council. Most of this trail is on Salthouse Road and is one big scenic circle from the Tile Museum.

But it came with a price with major landslip in 1952 which devastated a large part of the centre of Jackfield which is known as the most famous landslide in the area which damaged and destroyed houses, businesses and rail links. 27 cottages were lost In 1952 due to the landslide but locals had noticed land movement in the area long before the landslip happened.

During the stabilisation work in 2014, the remains of several houses that were buried in 1952 were uncovered.

The central portion of the village was constructed on unstable parts of the Ironbridge Gorge where several landslips have been recorded, most famously the landslip of 1952. The hillside is made more unstable by abandoned, flooded mineshafts and tunnels.

Flooding is also bad in the lower parts of Jackfield and still is today including The Boat Inn Pub which has floods recorded on the front door.

The memorial bridge is a footbridge that crosses the River Severn which connects Jackfield and Coalport, built with funds raised by public subscription in 1922 and is a memorial for the men of Jackfield and Coalport who lost their lives during the World Wars. The original structure was declared unsafe in 1997 but was refurbished and reopened in 2000.
