A LTTLE HISTORY OF IRONBRIDGE

Ironbridge is a large village in the borough of Telford and Wrekin in Shropshire, England. Located on the bank of the River Severn, at the heart of the Ironbridge Gorge. Ironbridge developed beside, and takes its name from, The Iron Bridge, a 100-foot (30 m) cast iron bridge that was built in 1779.

In 1758, approximately 400 vessels were used for trade supply between Gloucester and Welshpool, which doubled over the following half century. The route was essential for transporting raw materials across the river to the ironworks and other industries in the valley. The only other crossing was a medieval Buildwas Bridge, 3km upstream. The river was all too often shallow in the summer and in the winter was in spate and too high, and trade suffered at the mercy of the elements. It was inevitable that the bridge was conceived at this time and its proposed site suited the needs of the industry. The bridge attracted architects and artisans from all over the world and its builder, Abraham Derby III, was celebrated for constructing the worlds first Ironbridge.

In 2017-18 English Heritage undertook a £3.6m conservation project on the Iron Bridge, to help safeguard the future of its historic ironwork. The project was a great success and 'The Ironbridge' and associated museums in Coalbrookdale are well worth a visit.

In the narration, Coalbrookdale is mentioned. Coalbrookdale is where one of the iron foundries used to construct the bridge is located and is further up the gorge (not where the bridge is located).

MAKING THE FILM

I am a UK CAA and EU EASA registered UAV pilot with valid Op and Flyer ID's and my drone is a DJI mini 3 Pro, which weighs less than 250g, therefore I can fly within VLOS up to an altitude of 120m (400ft) AGL in the Open A1Category (pretty much anywhere that is not covered by a Flight Restriction Zone such as an Airport, Prison or where there is a specific Bylaw prohibiting the unauthorised use of a drone). I am allowed to fly over uninvolved people but am not allowed to fly over a congregation/crowds that cannot dispurse in the unlikely event that the drone falls out-of-control!

It was quiet, when I visited, so I was easily able to launch the DJI mini 3 Pro close to the bridge and maintain VLOS. I edited the footage using Wondershare Filmora 12 and it was also the first time I used an *AI for narration as my own voiceover wouldn't have cut it! Hopefully you thought it ok, but please leave your opinion on this, and anything else that could hopefully be constructive in the comments.
